Alan Shearer says that Arsenal will not win the Premier League title this season.
Former Newcastle striker and club legend, Alan Shearer, says that he can’t see Arsenal winning the Premier League title this term as well.
The Gunners haven’t won a Premier League title since 2004, and Shearer believes Arsene Wenger’s side are not equipped enough to win the title.
Arsenal, the 2016/17 FA Cup winners, will be buzzing with confidence after defeating Chelsea, the 2016/17 Premier League winners, in the Community Shield on Sunday.
Shearer believes that Arsenal will have their moments in the upcoming season, but they do not have what it takes to pose a consistent challenge.
The BBC Sports pundit was impressed with Alexandre Lacazette’s performance, saying the French striker will bring different qualities to the side.
However, Shearer believes that Arsenal haven’t done enough in the summer transfer market, and the two signings made – and Sead Kolasinac – are not enough if they are to challenge for the title.

Arsenal are reluctant to sell star player Alexis Sanchez this summer, but Shearer says that the Gunners could be tempted to do business if the offer is right.
However, Shearer predicts that even with Sanchez in the side Arsenal will not win the Premier League.
“One positive I think they can take from the Wembley game is the performance of Alexandre Lacazette. He looked sharp, his link-up play was good and the ball stuck to him,” wrote Shearer in his column for The Sun.
“The Frenchman will give them something different this season, going in behind, with a bit of pace. But Lacazette and yesterday’s goalscorer, Sead Kolasinac, are their only two signings this summer.

“That is not enough for the Gunners if they want to be challenging for the title, which is ultimately what their supporters want.
“It is also going to be interesting to see how the situation regarding Alexis Sanchez plays out. Arsene is adamant that his star man is staying. But if you are the Arsenal board, and you see that a player worth more than £50million could leave for nothing next summer, that must be very hard to take.
“Still, even if Sanchez does stay, I don’t see Arsenal winning the league. They will have their brilliant moments again, as they have had for a long time. But I don’t see them being able to sustain that for a whole season.”
