Alan Shearer has spoken highly of Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen to BBC Sport.

The former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers striker has included Eriksen among the top six players in the Premier League this season. along with his Tottenham teammate and England international striker Harry Kane.

Shearer told BBC Sport about Eriksen: “Kane’s team-mate Christian Eriksen is also on my shortlist.

“He has been a real driving force for Spurs and, as well as all his goals and assists, he has been brilliant all season at linking everything in that team up.”

Quality midfielder

Eriksen is one of the best attacking midfielders in the world and has been in great form for Tottenham so far this season.

The 26-year-old has scored nine goals and provided nine assists in 31 Premier League appearances for Spurs so far this campaign.

The Denmark international is a very creative footballer who is great from set-pieces as well.

Eriksen is perhaps underrated and under-appreciated. After all, much of the talks about Tottenham’s rise has been focused on Kane, Dele Alli and manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The former Ajax star, who earns £70,000 per week as salary at Tottenham according to Sky Sports, is a very consistent footballer who has stealing improved over the years and has been playing well for a number of years.
