Sunderland lost again today, prompting delight from Newcastle legend Alan Shearer.

Newcastle United legend and current pundit Alan Shearer has taken to Twitter to poke some fun at rivals Sunderland after their 4-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Sunderland went into today’s game against Arsenal as the only Premier League team yet to win a game, having drawn two and lost seven of their first nine games of the campaign.

It’s now ten without a win for David Moyes’ side, as whilst Jermain Defoe equalised after Alexis Sanchez’s opener, two goals from Olivier Giroud and a second from Sanchez sealed an easy 4-1 win for Arsenal.

That leaves Sunderland rooted to the bottom of the table and already lie seven points adrift of safety – but things couldn’t be much better for their rivals Newcastle right now.

The Magpies were relegated from the Premier League last season, but are heading towards the Championship title, six league wins in a row after today’s 2-1 away win at Preston North End.

Currently top of the Championship table and three points clear of second placed Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle are clear favourites to clinch top spot and immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

After Sunderland’s defeat to Arsenal, Newcastle legend and current pundit Alan Shearer took to Twitter, and decided to poke some fun at the Black Cats’ misfortune.

Shearer noted that it has been a terrible start to the season for Sunderland, and pointed out that in the football pyramid, Sunderland are technically just one place above Newcastle, as Moyes’ men sit bottom of the Premier League whilst Rafael Benitez’s Magpies are top of the Championship.
