Alan Shearer has ruled out a return to Newcastle United as part of Steve Bruce’s coaching team.

Shearer knows Bruce well, and spoke about the experienced boss’s controversial appointment at Newcastle for the first time yesterday.

Shearer claims that he warned Bruce not to take the Newcastle job.

And he has also ruled out coming back to St. James’ Park.

“He also knows what has gone on with me at the club in the past, so at least he won’t be asking me to join him,” Shearer said.

Shearer was once Newcastle manager for a brief period, but his time at the helm didn’t work out, as the Magpies were relegated.

Steve Bruce the head coach

Bruce will be hoping to have more success, but there is absolutely no guarantees that he will.

Bruce has arrived at Newcastle to a backlash from supporters, with many feeling his appointment shows a distinct lack of ambition.

Bruce is currently travelling to China, where he is set to start coaching his Newcastle squad for the first time.
