The Newcastle United legend has also suggested that some of the Spurs players are struggling to step up for the league fixtures.
Shearer wrote about Tottenham: “They were fantastic against Real Madrid home and away but they must start translating that form into the bread and butter league games, whether that be at home to West Brom, away to Watford or anywhere.
“They are yet to find the balance between Champions League and Premier League form and a few of their players are finding it tough to get up for some of the league games.”

Tottenham have progressed to the last-16 stage of the Champions League from a group that had Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
Spurs’ performances in Europe have been superb, and one has to give Mauricio Pochettino’s side credit.
The North London outfit, though, have not done well in the Premier League this season and are already out of the running for the league title.

With Champions League football not resuming until February, Tottenham now need to focus entirely on the Premier League.
Spurs are very much in the running for the top four, but they do need to put together a run of positive results.
