Leeds United and Newcastle United will face each other in the Championship on Sunday.
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has jokingly written on Coral.co.uk that he could score against Leeds United if he played this weekend.
The Magpies will take on Leeds away from home at Elland Road in the Championship on Sunday afternoon.
It promises to be an entertaining game of football, and there could be a few goals over the course of the 90 minutes.
Former England international striker Shearer has joked that were he playing for Newcastle against Leeds on Sunday, he would score.
The former Blackburn Rovers star has highlighted his scoring record against Leeds when he was still playing.
“Newcastle travel to Leeds this weekend and I wish I was playing because I always scored against Leeds!” Shearer wrote on Coral.co.uk.
“When Leeds got relegated from the Premier League I was gutted because it cost me three or four goals each season.
“For whatever reason, I just loved playing against Leeds, whether it was for Southampton, Blackburn or Newcastle.
“There weren’t many clubs I struggled against but Birmingham was one of them. I did not play against them that often in my career but they would have to be my bogey side. As for Leeds, I’d still fancy my chances of scoring against them on Sunday!”
Newcastle got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season and are playing in the Championship at the moment.
Rafael Benitez’s side are currently at the top of the table with 37 points from 16 matches, two points clear of second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion with a game in hand.
Meanwhile, Leeds find themselves seventh in the standings at the moment with 26 points from 16 matches, and are very much in the running for the playoffs.
