Newcastle United secured promotion back to the Premier League with a 4-1 win over Preston North End yesterday.

Alan Shearer has told the Daily Mirror that he believes Rafael Benitez is certain to ask for money to spend at Newcastle United following their promotion back to the Premier League.
Benitez was left frustrated by a lack of investment at Newcastle last January, which meant he wasn’t able to bring in any new players.
And, after securing promotion back to the top flight, Shearer believes that the Spanish boss could be even more keen to spend in the summer transfer window.

“I’m sure Rafael will ask for funds to massively improve the team,” the Newcastle legend said.
“People will realise that the team will need improving if they want to get into the top half of the Premier League.”
Newcastle have already been linked with the likes of Jay Rodriguez, Tom Cairney and Ryan Shawcross (Daily Mail).
Benitez’s future is likely to depend on how much money he is backed with, as he refused to confirm whether he would be in charge at St. James’ Park next season last night.

Newcastle sealed promotion with a 4-1 win over Preston North End yesterday, which sparked celebrations across the city.
Newcastle now have two games remaining to play this season, where the pressure will finally be relieved on Benitez’s side.
