Alan Shearer told Premier League Productions on Optus Sport during their live coverage of West Ham’s win against Leicester on Sunday that Jesse Lingard is a player playing ‘full of confidence’.

The Manchester United loanee was at it again at the London Stadium, this time scoring a brace in a crucial Champions League showdown with Leicester.

Everything Lingard touches is seemingly turning to gold and that was proven by his opening goal which was well-taken on the half volley.

But the England international didn’t stop there after he tapped home from an open net following a well-worked move from Man of the Match, Jarrod Bowen.

The Premier League’s highest goalscorer, Shearer, delivered his verdict on Lingard’s performance today.

“If you watch his position (for his first goal) not once does he go into the 18-yard box, whereas a natural goalscorer will try and get in and around the six-yard box,” said Shearer.

“But he has the intelligence to hang out there. He makes a poor ball back into him look very easy. What a feeling that is when you are in that type of form.

“He is playing full of confidence and full of belief. He went missing for a while and needed someone to take a chance on him and believe in him again.

“And he’s repaying the faith that West Ham and David Moyes had in him.”

Lingard was dancing on the London Stadium pitch after producing his 12th attacking return in just nine league appearances for the Hammers.

And if he continues in his current form then West Ham will be dancing towards Champions League football.

Even though Declan Rice and Michail Antonio were missing today Lingard ensured it was no worry for the boys in Claret & Blue.
