Alan Shearer comments on how Newcastle United will approach their Premier League game against Manchester United.
Newcastle United will travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday. Ahead of the clash, Magpies legend Alan Shearer has shared his view on how Newcastle will approach the game.
The Magpies are heading into this match on the back of two consecutive defeats against Burnley and Bournemouth, both by a 1-0 margin.
Newcastle find themselves 11th in the Premier League table, and Shearer says that the Magpies fans won’t be too disappointed with their current situation.
United on the other hand have won all their games at home, and will start as favourites .
Shearer says that he doesn’t expect Rafael Benitez’s side to try and take on United by attacking them. Rather, he expects Benitez to organise his defence where they stay resolute at the back, and hit on the counter.
The former Newcastle striker adds that Romelu Lukaku is the danger-man for United, and if Newcastle can prevent him from exerting influence in the game, they can pick up something from Old Trafford.
“No, I don’t see Newcastle going to Old Trafford and trying to take on Manchester United by attacking them,” Shearer told in an interview with Coral.
“I see Newcastle going there doing what Rafa has done reasonably well this season – that is very much organised, sit tight, be compact, get everyone together and try to hit on the break.”
