Christian Eriksen was off the pace even though Tottenham Hotspur beat West Ham United 3-2 yesterday.

Alan Shearer has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on BBC One on 19th November, that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has been poor all season.

Eriksen has come under a lot of criticism at White Hart Lane for the displays which he has put in this season.

And the Danish midfielder was once again off the pace, as Spurs picked up a 3-2 win against West Ham United yesterday.

Eriksen’s passing was wayward against the Hammers, and Tottenham fans could be heard audibly expressing their frustrations towards the attacking midfielder during the match.

Shearer feels that the 24-year-old needs to start improving soon, as he is not offering enough to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

“I think Eriksen has been poor this season. He has not contributed enough,” the former Newcastle United striker said.

Eriksen’s poor performance did not stop Tottenham beating the Hammers yesterday.

Spurs staged a late comeback, with Harry Kane netting a brace in the final minutes to turn things around at White Hart Lane.

It was Heung-Min Son who received the most praise from Shearer though, as the South Korean came off the substitutes’ bench and made a great impact.

“Son came on, and he ran in behind,” Shearer added. “He won the game for them.”
