Alan Shearer has claimed that Tottenham forward Heung-min Son will ‘definitely’ be a contender for Player of the Year at the end of the Premier League season.
The 26-year-old scored the only goal of the game as Spurs secured a 1-0 win [BBC Sport] over Newcastle United on Saturday at Wembley.
In midweek, Son, who had just returned from international duty with South Korea, netted for his team as they beat Watford 2-1 [BBC Sport] on home soil.

“When you put all of that into the mix [his travelling & amount of games],” Shearer told MOTD on BBC One on 02/02/2019. “His performances, 10 Premier League goals in his last 12 games.
“He will definitely be in the first five or six for a contender for player of the year.”
Over the course of the season, Son has played 30 matches in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and supplying his teammates with nine assists, according to transfermarkt.
Added with that, Mauricio Pochettino has utilised him across the front three, with the South Korea international scoring an impressive 10 goals from his last 12 league matches.
At this moment in time, Pochettino and his team are sitting second in the Premier League table, but they can be overtaken by third-placed Manchester City on Sunday.
