Matt Ritchie’s goal in the 65th minute proved to be the difference between the two teams on Sunday afternoon.
It was the first time that Newcastle had won a Premier League match at St. James’ Park since October.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon, hosts Newcastle had just 36% of the possession, took 10 shots of which three were on target, and failed to win a single corner, according to BBC Sport.
The win against United has enhanced Rafael Benitez’s side’s chances of escaping the drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
