West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez was in brilliant form for Mexico yesterday.
Alan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand have both suggested that Javier Hernandez is unhappy at West Ham United.
Hernandez barely started for West Ham towards the back end of last season, but he starred in Mexico’s win at the World Cup against Germany yesterday.
And the pundits told the BBC, during their live coverage of Mexico’s opening group stage match, that they feel Hernandez could be unhappy at the London Stadium.
“I watched him in an FA Cup game last season and criticising after him aftwards, because I thought his attitude was poor and he didn’t work hard enough and that suggests that he’s not happy there,” Shearer said of the £16 million signing from Bayer Leverkusen.
Ferdinand added: “You’re a striker. He’s gone to Manchester United and Real Madrid and scored goals, and now you’re a substitute at West Ham. You wouldn’t be happy.”
Hernandez was in scintillating form for Mexico yesterday, as they pulled off the shock of the World Cup so far by beating Germany.
Although Hernandez didn’t score in the contest, his link up play was electric, and he caused no end of problems for Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng.
It adds credence to many West Ham fans’ arguments that David Moyes wasted Hernandez during his time at the London Stadium.
West Ham fans were desperate for Hernandez to play more, but he was often overlooked by Moyes in favour of other options.
There is hope that Hernandez will get more game time next season at West Ham, now Manuel Pellegrini is at the helm.
