Newcastle United returned to winning ways after winning 1-0 against Stoke City.

Newcastle United have started the new year on a positive note after Rafa Benitez’s side earned a crucial 1-0 win against Stoke City in the Premier League clash on Monday.
Ayoze Perez scored the only goal of the match in the 73rd minute to earn all three points for the Magpies. The defeat puts further pressure on under-fire Stoke City manager Mark Hughes whose side have picked up just one win in their last seven Premier League games.

Christisn Atsu missed a host of chances in the first half, while Ciaran Clark missed a golden opportunity to score when he fired over from two yards out.
Stoke City created a few good chances but Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow was equal to the task.

With this victory, Newcastle have won back to back away games in the Premier League for the first time since November 2014.
Former Newcastle player and club legend Alan Shearer took to social networking site Twitter to express his reaction after the game.
Another former Newcastle player, Mick Quinn also shared his reaction. He tweeted:
Newcastle have now jumped to 13th in the league with 22 points from 22 games.
