Tottenham Hotspur produced their best performance of the season when they beat Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
Alan Shearer has claimed that Harry Kane will be ‘devastated’ that he didn’t score despite Tottenham Hotspur picking up a comfortable 4-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who had produced indifferent performances prior to the international break, showcased their best display against Roy Hodgson’s side in front of their own supporters.
Heung-Min Son netted a brace, Patrick Van Aanholt put the ball into the back of his own net, whilst Erik Lamela scored his second goal of the season against their London rivals.
Speaking to Match of the Day on BBC One (14/09/2019 at 11:55 pm), Shearer was very honest in how Kane would be feeling as he seemingly was trying to be in his shoes.
Gary Lineker asked, ‘Tottenham win 4-0, Kane didn’t score, how would you feel if you’re Kane tonight?’ “You would be pleased your team won but you’d be devastated that you haven’t scored,” Shearer told Match of the Day.
Lineker responded: “Spot on. Respect your honesty.”
In recent seasons, Kane hasn’t been the top marksman in England’s top-flight despite dominating that title in seasons before that.
Constant injuries during certain times of the season have played their part in that and Kane will be hoping to stay out of the treatment room this term.
If he is able to do that then the likes of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, who have started the season in a strong fashion, will have a challenger. But it is Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham who tops the list so far.
