Alan Rough comments on Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos

Former Celtic goalkeeper Alan Rough has suggested on The Football Show on PLZ Soccer that he is surprised that Rangers have decided to appeal the red card handed to Alfredo Morelos in midweek.

Morelos was dismissed during Rangers’ Scottish Premiership game against Aberdeen on Wednesday evening.

The Colombia international striker was involved in an altercation with Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna, and both the players were sent off.

According to BBC Sport, Rangers have appealed against the red card, with the hearing to be held on Friday evening.

Former Celtic goalkeeper Rough has said that he is surprised that Rangers have decided to appeal against the red card to Morelos, and believes that the 22-year-old should be given be a given a further two-game ban if it is found that the the striker was rightly sent off.

Rough said on The Football Show on PLZ Soccer when asked if he is surprised that Rangers decided to appeal the red card to Morelos: “Yeah, I am. I spoke to Gordon (Smith) before, and we debated that clubs who appeal things, if they got off, fair enough. I think if they don’t get off, I think I would double the suspension because they are wasting people’s time.”

Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 51 points from 25 matches, six points behind leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic.
