Palace fans can’t say they weren’t warned. After all, The Magpies made their feelings about Pardew quite clear when he was appointed.

Somebody pass the Prosecco because the Pardew residence will be slightly short of Christmas cheer this year.

Less than two years since he returned to his beloved Selhurst Park mecca with a glint in his eye and European football on his mind, Alan Pardew has been handed his P45 hot off the presses. And no one could say they didn’t see this coming.

In fact, the only surprise is that the cockniest of geezers hadn’t gone already, with Palace picking up the lowest amount of points in all four divisions of English football. That’s hardly the platform for a long-term stay.

As it stands, The Eagles are a point and a place above the drop zone despite possessing the club’s strongest squad in the Premier League era, featuring club record signing Christian Benteke and midfielder Yohan Cabaye, the on-pitch general of Pardew’s fifth placed Newcastle United side of 2011/12.

And while the Palace fans utilise social media for its primary purpose, discussing the issues of the day and engaging in interesting and thorough debate about their manager’s departure, Magpies fans couldn’t let this opportunity pass them by.
