West Bromwich Albion fans haven’t had much to cheer about this season.
Baggies boss Alan Pardew addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s vital victory over Brighton and Hove Albion yesterday, and offered high words of praise for the Hawthorns faithful, admitting that he and his players can count themselves very fortunate for the support they received, as quoted by the Express & Star.
West Brom earned their first win since August yesterday, and now sit just two points adrift of safety.
Pardew has undoubtedly made a difference during his time in charge of the Baggies, but results haven’t necessarily reflected that, up until yesterday’s win over the Seagulls of course.
The Black Country outfit now face an extremely challenging run of games in the Premier League, with trips to Everton, Manchester City and Chelsea all to come over the next month, and they will need their fans to be at their most vociferous if they are to emerge from that period with anything to show for their efforts.
Pardew spoke to reporters yesterday, and highlighted how much of an influence the West Brom fans can have on the players, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“The biggest highlight of course was the stadium. To be on the run that we’re on to have a stadium like that, we can count ourselves very fortunate. I thank them, because it’s going to be massive going forward. We’ve sent them home happy tonight, and if we can get a home crowd like that in the remaining games we’ll win enough.”
The 56-year-old will be hoping that his side can follow up their win over Brighton with another victory next weekend against Everton.
