TalkSPORT pundit Alan Pardew has said that he would like Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to give chances to Emile Smith Rowe.

The former Newcastle United manager has said on talkSPORT (7:31pm, September 3, 2023) that he is a big fan of Arsenal and England international attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.

Pardew has noted that the 23-year-old, who can also play as a winger, could have left Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The pundit hopes that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta makes use of Smith Rowe now.

90min reported this week that Chelsea, Newcastle and Villa all wanted to sign Smith Rowe from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Pardew said: “I am a big fan of Smith Rowe and I think it looked like he might move in that window.

“He stayed, which is good for Arsenal, and I hope he gets a chance.”

Emile Smith Rowe could struggle at Arsenal

In our view, Emile Smith Rowe could really struggle for playing time at Arsenal in the coming weeks and months.

Although the 23-year-old is a very good player, injuries affected him, and now he is not guaranteed a place in the first team.

There was once a time when Smith Rowe was one of the first names on the Arsenal teamsheet.

That has changed now.

Arsenal signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners also brought in Leandro Trossard in January 2023.

Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli are regulars for Arsenal.

Smith Rowe has not made a single appearance in the Premier League so far this season.

The Arsenal no. 10 made 12 substitute appearances in the league last season.
