Christian Eriksen started Tottenham Hotspur’s draw at Everton on Sunday afternoon at Goodison Park.

Alan Pardew has urged Mauricio Pochettino to ‘make a statement’ with the out-of-form Christian Eriksen as he produced yet another poor display.
Despite Eriksen’s contract expiring next summer, Pochettino still opted to select the Dane from the get-go during Spurs’ 1-1 draw against Everton on Sunday afternoon.
He failed to have an impact yet again, as he was substituted very late in the game, with the match in itself being marred by a horrific injury suffered by Everton midfielder Andre Gomes.
Former Premier League manager Pardew seemingly suggested Pochettino to axe Eriksen altogether, as he stated that he wouldn’t be accepting his performances.
“You have to say, he doesn’t look like anywhere near the form he was in,” Pardew told Bein Sports. “Now that’s as polite as I can put that. And that would be a worry for me if I was on that bench, knowing that his contracts out at the end of the season.
“Sometimes you do need to make a statement as a manager and today [against Everton] might be a statement to say ‘come off, I’m not accepting that’.”

It would be a surprise to many Spurs supporters if Eriksen does put pen-to-paper on a new contract, as his days are the club are now seemingly coming to an end.
Considering Spurs fans know this, they are perhaps that ultra-critical when he is playing and starting, but given that he won’t be here next season, some would feel that the club are better off giving others a chance to shine.
Players such as Giovani Lo Celso are being left on the bench, as was Harry Winks, with his fellow academy graduate Oliver Skipp not seeing much first-team action this season despite a breakthrough campaign last term.
