West Bromwich Albion are currently in a whole world of trouble.
Under-fire West Brom boss Alan Pardew addressed the media yesterday, in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing 1-0 defeat to Watford, and insisted that the club’s fans cannot criticise the determination and endeavour of his team, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The Baggies remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, and are now eight points adrift of safety, having won just three league games all season long.
Pardew’s appointment as manager at the Hawthorns was expected to coincide with an upturn in form for West Brom, but that has so far failed to materialise.
The Black Country outfit’s fight against relegation has not been helped with off-field issues, but those problems have somehow glossed over the dire performances that the players have been putting in recently.
Pardew spoke to reporters after his side’s defeat at Vicarage Road, and insisted that the 2,000 travelling fans could not question the effort that they saw their players put in, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“Our fans were brilliant today, and I think if they’re honest, they’ve seen a committed performance today. But unfortunately when the ball doesn’t go in the back of the net it’s frustrating. That’s an area we’ve struggled with all year.”
Next up for the Baggies is a home match against Leicester City, and nothing less than a win will do, as they look to begin their climb to safety.
