The West Bromwich Albion made has failed to live up to expectations this season.
Under-fire West Brom boss Alan Pardew spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing 4-1 home defeat to Leicester City yesterday, and was highly critical of Grzegorz Krychowiak’s reaction to being substituted off, suggesting that he has not been particularly great this season, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The Baggies currently sit firmly rooted at the foot of the Premier League table, and the only positive that came out of yesterday was that Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham all lost too.
Pardew’s side are still eight points adrift of safety, however, with only eight games remaining, and their chances of avoiding the drop are looking slim to say the very least.
Krychowiak has hardly helped matters this season, following his loan switch from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017.
He has started just 19 Premier League games this term, and has failed to score a single goal, chipping in with only two assists.
Pardew addressed the media after yesterday’s defeat, and singled out the Poland international for criticism, after he reacted badly to being substituted off in the 59th minute of the game, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“I do have a problem with it because I’ve supported him and played him and stuck by him when he’s not been particularly great. And to come off and not shake my hand. I made it very clear to him on the bench I’m not accepting that, I think it’s wrong. He’s a player on loan who should show respect. I’m not going to make a big deal about it. I made it clear to him and I don’t expect to see it again.”
Next up for West Brom is a crucial trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, and nothing less than a win will do, if they are to stand any chance whatsoever of avoiding the drop this term.
