Alan Pardew has told Sky Sports that one of West Ham United’s striker Andy Carroll’s greatest qualities is that he trains as he plays.

Carroll is noted for his aggression and ability to trouble defenders with his physicality.

“One thing I know about Carroll is even in training he wants to have a fight,” Pardew said. “He wants to be aggressive, which is a great thing.”

Carroll also arguably showed too much battling spirit recently, when he was sent off against Burnley.

The England international did come straight back into West Ham’s team last night though, and he helped inspire them to a comeback victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
