Alan Pardew on West Bromwich Albion fans booing their own players

West Bromwich Albion fans’ frustrations were growing during their defeat against Huddersfield Town.

Alan Pardew has suggested to the Express and Star that West Bromwich Albion fans should not boo individual players, with frustrations rising at the Hawthorns.

West Brom fans showed their dissatisfaction when both Gareth Barry and Matt Phillips were taken off.

Barry and Phillips were given hostile receptions from the home crowd, when they were taken off with the Baggies behind against Huddersfield Town.

And Pardew insists that it is harsh to single any player out for West Brom’s poor form.

He said: “I think that’s just frustration and I don’t think we should make this an individual thing.

“This is team thing and regardless of my selection, the team didn’t win against Huddersfield at home, so I don’t think they’re going to be best pleased about any sort of decision.

“We have to accept that and move on, and that’s what we’ll do. We just have to go to the next week and hopefully get ourselves a win.”

West Brom’s defeat to Huddersfield means their chances of staying in the Premier League look even slimmer now.

Pardew’s side are seven points adrift of safety, and it is hard to see where the next win is coming from.

Albion put in an extremely poor display against Huddersfield, and even though they did show some fight, after going 2-0 down, it was not enough.

West Brom are now seven points adrift of safety, with time running out for them to save themselves from the drop.
