Everton and West Ham United have both been linked with West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans.

Alan Pardew has admitted, in comments reported by Sky Sports, that he is fearful that he may end up losing Jonny Evans, with reports linking the West Brom defender with a move to Everton and West Ham.

It would undoubtedly be a hammer blow for the Baggies to lose the 29-year-old given that he has been an exceptional player for the club. But unfortunately for West Brom fans, they are unlikely to find much comfort in Pardew’s response when he was asked about Evans’ future.

“Jonny Evans is definitely one of them and he is our captain. Do I want to lose him? Of course not. Do I fear losing him? Of course I do.”
Pardew’s comments certainly suggest that he will do absolutely everything he can to try and keep Evans from leaving for the likes of Everton and West Ham if they do come calling during one of the coming windows.
It would be a huge loss for West Brom if they were unable keep him from leaving for one of their Premier League rivals. He has been an excellent servant since arriving from Manchester United.
And West Brom fans would have probably been hoping for a more emphatic response from Pardew when talking about Evans’ future – while the Everton and Hammers supporters who want to see the defender arrive at their respective clubs will probably be delighted that the door appears to be ever so slightly open.
