Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been heavily linked with a move away from Ibrox.

Morelos has been sensational during his first few months at Ibrox. The 21-year-old currently tops the goalscoring charts in the Scottish Premiership with 11 goals coming so far in the top flight this season.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, his form has led to interest from elsewhere. And the Daily Record reported early on transfer deadline day that the Gers had rejected a £7.5 million bid from Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe. But McInally suggested that, from an outsider’s perspective, there seems no way that the Light Blues can afford to keep hold of Morelos.
“Now Graeme Murty, to be fair to Graeme, has come out and said, ‘we are going to do business and business and business and get as many players in as we can’. If he wants to do that, they’re going to have to sell if you can get the guts at £10 million for him, which I think would be unbelievable business.

“So I don’t see any other way than he gets a goal tonight, Rangers go through and they send him with their best wishes, but I don’t think you can turn that kind of money down.”
If Rangers are indeed hoping to receive as high a bid as possible before cashing in on Morelos before the Chinese transfer window shuts next month, perhaps it may not be out of the question for there to be potentially be an indication of that fact in the coming hours.
While Morelos could leave anytime in the next month, Rangers would only have until tonight to sign a replacement – unless they brought in a free agent – and the Record has reported that one of the reasons that Dave King does not want to sell is the fact that Murty will have so few options to pick from in the wake of the Colombian’s departure. So signing another striker will undoubtedly lead to an increase in speculation.
But if they manage to hold onto Morelos throughout the next month, perhaps it would also be fair to suggest that it would go some way to silencing those who have questions regarding the club’s financial situation.
