And McInally believes that no team in the Championship will relish the prospect of facing Leeds now.
“Other teams in championship will be thinking ‘oh no, Leeds United’. It’s a big psychological boost for Leeds, that result last night,” he said.
Leeds overcame the challenge of Burnley on penalties, after what was a pulsating encounter at Turf Moor.
Leeds took the lead for the first time in the 80th minute through Hadi Sacko, but that was just the start of the drama.
Chris Wood scored an equaliser for Burnley, before Pablo Hernandez’s penalty appeared to have put Leeds into the next round.
However, in the final minute of injury time Robbie Brady struck to send the tie to extra-time.
The score remained locked after the added 30 minutes, and it was Leeds who progressed after a penalty shoot out.
Leeds have still only lost one match in all competitions this season, with their next contest coming against Ipswich Town at the weekend.
