New West Ham United assistant Alan Irvine has been overheard leaving the club’s players in no doubt over what’s expected of them.
West Ham sacked Slaven Bilic last week with the club languishing in the relegation zone almost a third of the way through the season.
The Hammers quickly replaced the Croatian with David Moyes, to much apathy and anger from supporters.
That has subsided somewhat since, though, with many fans impressed by Moyes’ bullish attitude in interviews and his first press conference.
Supporters have also been pleased to see experienced trio Stuart Pearce, Billy McKinlay and Alan Irvine brought in as assistants to Moyes.
Videos from training posted on social media show the West Ham players working at high intensity, something statistic show has been sorely lacking during matches.
Bilic was accused of allowing West Ham players too much slack in training.
Well the players were left in no doubt over the expectation levels now after tough talking Scotsman Irvine was overheard telling them during a session this week.
In the video posted by West Ham’s media team on Twitter, Irvine is heard shouting: “It’s got to be accurate!
“It’s got to be accurate on Saturday, it’s got to be accurate here. Be tidy with your passes, be tidy!”
West Ham of course play on Sunday away to Watford by the sentiment remains the same.
Hammers fans will be hoping the team carries the intensity seen in the training videos into the crucial clash at Vicarage Road.
