Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton has hinted that he wants to remain at Villa Park ahead of the 2018-19 campaign on Instagram, despite his current contract set to expire in a month.

The 33-year-old played the entire 90 minutes of Villa’s 1-0 loss to Fulham on Saturday evening at Wembley, as the Cottagers narrowly gained promotion at the expense of Steve Bruce’s side.

Hutton, a 50-time Scotland international, has been instrumental in Villa’s Championship campaign and run towards the play-offs despite playing out of position on the left side of defence.

However, his contract is set to expire on June 30, and it remains to be seen if he will now remain at Villa Park with the club failing to achieve promotion. He posted on Instagram, stating he hopes Villa can keep the side intact.

Manager Bruce was quoted by the Daily Mirror last week as saying that talks over a new contract for Hutton will commence, “whichever division we are in”.

Hutton, who has turned out for the likes of Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur throughout his career, is earning a whopping £30,000 a week at Villa according to the Daily Star.
