Aston Villa midfielders Jack Grealish and John McGinn have been in good form in recent times.

Alan Hutton has told Aston Villa’s official website that Jack Grealish and John McGinn can benefit from Steve Bruce’s departure and Dean Smith’s appointment at Villa Park.

Smith has Villa playing with a style which is far more free-flowing than when Bruce is in charge.

Villa’s players are given more freedom to roam and express themselves in attacking positions.

And Hutton feels that both Grealish and McGinn can really improve as a result of the managerial change.

“The new system gives the likes of Jack Grealish and John McGinn freedom and the opportunity to express themselves,” Hutton said.

“It’s definitely good for me and the rest of the defence if we can give these players the ball, so that they can go into the final third and show what they can do.”

Grealish has already started to show signs that he is getting back to his best.

The attacking midfielder scored his first goal of the season for Villa in their victory against Bolton Wanderers last Friday.

Grealish had looked short of his best under Bruce, but if he can return to top form, it will be a major boost for the claret and blues.

Villa are next in action on Saturday, when they take on Derby County at Pride Park.
