Speaking on the All To Play For Podcast, Alan Curbishley has compared West Ham captain Mark Noble to Tottenham star Harry Kane.
Of course, the pair are chalk and cheese when it comes to playing styles. Noble is a hard-working central midfielder, while Kane is a two-time Premier League Golden Boot winning centre-forward.
However, Curbishley says the pair are similar in that they both went out on loan early in their career before breaking through and becoming stalwarts for their clubs.
“Him and Harry Kane, they were very similar those two. They were both hoing out on loan, and when I came to West Ham, he was due to go on loan back to Ipswich I think, and he felt that with a change of manager he might have a chance,” Curbishley said.
“Harry Kane was similar when Tim Sherwood took over from Villas-Boas that year, and Kane was due to go out on loan and he thought he’d hold on and thought he may have a chance. They’ve both done exactly the same, they’ve come through and they’re one of your own, there’s not many of them, is there?”

Curbishley is right on one level, but the difference is that Noble has stayed loyal to West Ham for his whole career.
Of course, Kane could do the same at Spurs, but with reports claiming that he wants to leave the north London club this summer, his loyalty has come into question.
Noble and Kane are certainly two club legends, and they have had very similar career paths in terms of their early loan moves.
