Alan Brazil tips Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor

Brendan Rodgers has been tipped to succeed Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur.

Pundit Alan Brazil has told The Scottish Sun that he could see Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers heading back to England to manage Tottenham Hotspur if Mauricio Pochettino moves on.

Rodgers, 45, saw his reputation take a major hit after being sacked by Liverpool in October 2015, but he has certainly rebuilt his career since becoming Celtic manager in the summer of 2016.

The Northern Irishman won the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup last season without even losing a single game, whilst the Bhoys are on course to repeat that domestic treble this season.

Whilst Champions League success has evaded Rodgers so far, Celtic have been superb under Rodgers, proving himself to be an incredible replacement for Ronny Deila, who was a major disappointment to Celtic fans.

However, the result of Rodgers’ success is that many believe he will ultimately return to English football at some point in the not-too-distant future, though finding a spot for him is a little difficult.

Now, Celtic-supporting pundit and ex-Tottenham Hotspur ace Alan Brazil has told The Scottish Sun that he could see Rodgers heading to manage Spurs, tipping him as a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino if the Argentinian heads to Real Madrid.

Brazil noted that Arsenal or Chelsea could also be landing spots for Rodgers, and it may take a top six Premier League team to lure him away from Celtic Park.

“Brendan’s credentials are there for all to see. He’d not leave Celtic for any old job, but the top six in England may be attractive to him one day,” said Brazil. “What about Tottenham? If Poch goes to Real Madrid — and I think he would go if Real come chasing — there could be an opportunity.”

“Arsenal will have a new manager sooner or later, Chelsea will as well with so many questions over Antonio Conte. Or is someone going to try to poach Brendan from Celtic? It would only be that calibre of job which could lure Brendan away,” he added.
