Alan Brazil has backed Newcastle United to snub a transfer for Everton’s wantaway winger, Anthony Gordon, and sign Leicester City’s creative spark, James Maddison, instead, as he told talkSPORT (26/01/23).

The former Manchester United striker thinks Maddison is more creative, scores more goals and is simply an ‘all-round better’ player than Gordon.

The Toffees winger is trying to force a move to Champions League-chasing Newcastle United – the January transfer window slams shut next Tuesday evening.

The 21-year-old is so desperate to leave Goodison Park that he hasn’t even turned up for training during the past three days, which isn’t a great sign if you are a buying club.

It’s not exactly the type of attitude and conduct you want to be displayed if you are the buying club, but it’s the way modern football is nowadays.

Nonetheless, with Gordon possibly heading to St James’ Park, this was the message Alan Brazil had for those at St James’ Park regarding who they should actually be buying.

“You look at Gordon’s games-per-goals,” said Brazil. “Maddison clearly, for me, is more creative. I was going to say maybe not as mobile as Gordon.

“But an all-round better player, for me, would be Maddison and he scores more and makes more.”

NEWCASTLE SHOULD STAY AWAY – EVERTON SHOULD GET RID

For a player that has only scored three goals this season, with no assists, it begs the question of why he is acting like he is a big-time player that has double-figure goals this term?!

Gordon is a big reason behind why his boyhood club are sitting in the Premier League’s relegation zone, yet he acts in such a manner after the manager is booted out and is taking zero responsibility.

It’s pretty clear that Everton should get rid, and if you are Newcastle, why would you want to have such a player on board?
