Rangers legend Ally McCoist has told Alan Brazil on talkSPORT (7:49am, August 1, 2022) that Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo will not join the Ibrox club’s bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic in the summer transfer window.

McCoist believes that Ronaldo will not leave Manchester United for Celtic despite the defending Scottish Premiership champions being able to offer him UEFA Champions League football.

The Rangers legend made the comments when it was suggested by his talkSPORT co-presenter Alan Brazil this morning that the former Real Madrid star could be tempted to move to Celtic.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United forward Brazil now works as a presenter on talkSPORT and stated in The Sunday Post in July 2017 that he is a red-hot Celtic fan.

Brazil said about Ronaldo on talkSPORT (7:49am, August 1, 2022): “He wants Champions League football. Celtic? What if Desmond sends his private jet for him?”

McCoist responded: “There’s no danger that is happening. So forget that, just rule that out of equation.”

Cristiano Ronaldo won’t leave Manchester United for Celtic

In our view, Cristiano Ronaldo is not going to leave Manchester United for Celtic in the summer transfer window.

Yes, Ronaldo wants to leave the Red Devils to play in the UEFA Champions League, according to The Times, but his wages are massive and Celtic simply won’t be able to afford them.

According to The Manchester Evening News, the Portugal international forward was on £480,000-a-week last season, and his basic wage for the 2022-23 campaign will be £360,000 because the Red Devils failed to finish in the UEFA Champions League.

Moreover, the Scottish Premiership is not one of the ‘elite’ domestic leagues in Europe, and Ronaldo is unlikely to be keen on a move.
