Alan Brazil stunned Rangers haven’t approached Alex McLeish

Glasgow Rangers are still searching for their new manager one month after the Ibrox side sacked Pedro Caixinha.

Alan Brazil has told The Sunday Post that he cannot believe that Rangers have not approached Alex McLeish about becoming their new manager, insisting that it is a no-brainer that they should appoint their former boss.

Sunday marks one month since the Scottish Premiership side parted company with Pedro Caixinha after his hugely disappointing tenure at Ibrox, and it appears – from the outside, at least – that the Gers may not be too close to appointing the Portuguese’s permanent successor.

A number of names have been linked with potentially succeeding Caixinha, and Sky Bet currently list McLeish as the 11/10 favourite for the position. And Brazil has expressed his shock that the Light Blues have not already made their move for the 58-year-old.

“Alex McLeish is ready, able and willing to grab Rangers by the scruff of the neck and drag them up the Premiership table,” he told The Sunday Post. “I can’t believe the Gers haven’t swooped already.

“His record is up there with anybody’s and he knows the club inside out. It’s an absolute no-brainer!”

Unfortunately for Rangers, two defeats in their last two top flight games have meant that the Scottish Cup represents their best chance of securing silverware this season by quite some distance.

But the fact that challenging for the league crown seems to be beyond them this season may have one slight upside as it takes some of the pressure off and means that they do not need to rush into a quick appointment.

However, the fans’ frustrations can certainly be understood as they will want the new man to be able to be able to build some momentum during the coming months going into their first full season at Ibrox next year.
