Alan Brazil has claimed that Newcastle United target, Dan Burn, would be ‘perfect’ for Celtic, as he told talkSPORT (27/01/22 at 6:10 am).

The former striker pointed out that Newcastle are looking to sign the Brighton defender before Monday’s deadline.

But the Celtic-mad presenter wants the Hoops to snap him up instead amid the club’s problems from set-piece situations.

At 29-years-old, Burn has the experience that teams like Celtic and Newcastle need and would value to improve their side.

But, the last time Celtic signed a defender from Brighton, well, it didn’t go quite as well as they would have liked.

Although, that doesn’t mean that they should sign a man of Burn’s qualities, who is versatile with his defensive skills and is also a boyhood Newcastle fan having come through the club’s academy at a very young age.

Nonetheless, this is what Brazil had to say about those Burn and Newcastle rumours and how Celtic should push for him.

“I am reading today that ‘the Toon in a bid for fan Dan’,” said Brazil. “Newcastle are going to go for Brighton’s, Dan Burn.

“He has really impressed me, Dan Burn. I would love to see him, never mind in a striped shirt of Newcastle.

“But I would like to see him in a Hoops shirt of Celtic. Set-pieces. That’s where Celtic struggle and he’s perfect for it.”

90 min have reported that Newcastle have approached Brighton for their towering centre-back.

It remains to be seen how the Seagulls react to Newcastle’s approach and what the player himself thinks.

Given that he was at the club at a very young age and he supported the club, then that might tip the scale to the player wanting to leave for St James’ Park.

Either way, all eyes will be on the North East during these final few days of the window because Newcastle are set to be the main event.
