Liverpool star Andrew Robertson and Celtic ace Kieran Tierney are Scotland international teammates.
Brazil, who played 13 times for Scotland, has explained why he would pick 23-year-old Robertson instead of 20-year-old Tierney at left-back.
The former Manchester United and Ipswich Town forward wrote in The Sunday Post: “Anybody who knows me knows I’m a huge Kieran Tierney fan. The Celtic star is an incredible wee player already, with the potential to become even better.
“But if Andy Robertson is shining for Liverpool in the Premier League and the Champions League, he has to start at left-back for Scotland. That was a view shared by Gordon Strachan.
“Towards the end of the last qualifying campaign, the ex-Scotland boss was utilising Robertson at left-back while Tierney was shifted over to the right.
“If I were the man next taking charge of Scotland, I’d be sticking with Strachan’s system. Tierney has looked more than comfortable on the right, while Robertson has been in goalscoring form on the left.”
Tierney is one of the best young left-backs in Europe and has been in great form for Celtic so far this season.
Given that the Scotland international is also to play as a central defender or at right-back, it would make sense for the next Scotland manager to play him at right-back and Robertson at left-back.
Robertson is a very good left-back who played brilliantly for Liverpool against Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
The former Dundee United star has proved himself in the Premier League, and working under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is only going to make him better in the coming years.
Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £10 million.
