Ross McCrorie played for Pedro Caixinha’s Glasgow Rangers against Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby at the weekend.

McCrorie made his Scottish Premiership debut for Rangers at the weekend when he lined up against Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox.
The 19-year-old defender featured for the Gers in their Scottish League Cup quarter-final tie against Partick Thistle away from home at the Firhill Stadium last week.
The Scotland Under-21 international defender’s performances against Partick and Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic were quite encouraging.
After the match against Partick, Rangers manager Caixinha spoke highly of McCrorie, and said that the youngster is going to be one of the best centre-backs for the Gers, as quoted by BBC Sport.

Former Tottenham forward Brazil, who admitted in The Sunday Post in July that he is red-hot Celtic fan, has suggested that Caixinha was excessive in his praise of Ross McCrorie.
“Fair enough, the boy did well in his first senior appearance in midweek against Partick Thistle,” Brazil wrote in The Sunday Post. “And he held his own after being pitched into yesterday’s Old Firm clash.
“But for Caixinha to suggest the 19-year-old can become: ‘One of the best centre-halves in history, not just for this club but for this country’ after just 44 minutes of first-team action is way over the top. Talk about a weight of expectation!”

Praise for Ross McCrorie for Old Firm display
McCrorie is a very talented and promising young defender, and he has been earning praises from a number of footballing figures.
Former Rangers forward Nacho Novo told The Scottish Sun: “I was proud of Ross. He has been tremendous. To come out in a game like this, with such high intensity, I think he was outstanding.
“I made a wee sneaky phone call to him on Friday night just to tell him to relax and show what he can do. It will only be good for him to have played in such a huge game as this. He has a good chance of going to the top.”
Michael Stewart, who played for Manchester United and Hibernian as a midfielder, wrote in The Scottish Sun while referring to the Old Firm derby between Rangers and Celtic: “Fabio Cardoso was awful and really let down the excellent Ross McCrorie beside him. The kid can be proud of his display.”
Rangers midfielder Graham Dorrans told The Glasgow Evening Times: “Credit to Ross he has a good future ahead of him and hopefully he can continue playing like that.”
