Alan Brazil has raised his doubts as to whether Ange Postecoglou would swap Tottenham Hotspur’s dugout for Liverpool’s.
After the shock announcement that Jurgen Klopp will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, the club are now on the lookout for a new manager.
The one name that keeps cropping up on everyone’s radar is that of Bayer Leverkusen’s high-flying and currently unbeaten coach, Xabi Alonso.
Whilst that would be a dream appointment for some, at the end of the day, Liverpool have to plan beyond that because nothing is guaranteed here.
When the name of Ange Postecoglou was discussed, Alan Brazil shared how he is someone who is ‘adored’ by the Tottenham fans, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (14/02/24 at 7:55 am).
The 58-year-old left Celtic to join Spurs in the summer, and in a matter of months, he has flipped the mood of the club with his front-foot style of play and no-nonsense style of dealing with the media.
That’s why some see Ange Postecoglou as one of the candidates to replace Jurgen Klopp, with his popularity in the Premier League growing by the week.
Ange Postecoglou at Liverpool
“Interesting,” said Brazil. “I think he is very happy at Spurs.
“The problem is with Liverpool, I was going to say serial winners, but not when it comes to the Premier League.
“But at the same time, it would have to be a hell of a decision he would have to make. I don’t know what he would do. I think it’s something he wouldn’t want to think about because Tottenham’s a massive club and Liverpool are massive.
“The Tottenham fans adore him, so it would be a difficult one – it would be a hard act to follow, Jurgen.”

A chance to win trophies at Liverpool
At the end of the day, if the situation arose, then you can’t see any other option than Postecoglou deciding to leave Spurs for Liverpool.
The bread and butter for the Reds supporters is for their team to win the Premier League title and become champions of Europe again.
Postecoglou is currently managing a club that last were champions of England over 50 years ago and has never won the Champions League.
So, it’s pretty clear that, if the opportunity arose, just like when Spurs came knocking when he was at Celtic, then the Australian would accept such an offer.
