Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic did not lose a single domestic game last season.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United forward Alan Brazil has written in The Sunday Post (print edition, page 96, August 13, 2017) that Celtic will not go the entire 2017-18 campaign unbeaten.

Celtic enjoyed a remarkable season in 2016-17, as they won the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

Brendan Rodgers’s side also progressed to the group stage of the Champions League during the 2016-17 campaign.

What was astonishing about Celtic’s domestic campaign was that they did not lose a single match – not in the Scottish Premiership, not in the Scottish Cup, not in the Scottish League Cup.

The Glasgow giants have started the 2017-18 campaign strongly as well, winning both of their Scottish Premiership games and progressing to the third round of the Scottish League Cup.

Former Tottenham and Ipswich Town forward Brazil, who is a Celtic fan and now works as a radio presenter on talkSPORT, believes that Rodgers’s side will lose a domestic game this season.

Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers celebrates during the William Hill Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden Park on May 27, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“Celtic made history by going unbeaten last season,” Brazil wrote in The Sunday Post (print edition, page 96, August 13, 2017).

“They did it because they were a very good side. But luck played its part. That’s why I can’t see Brendan Rodgers’ ‘Invincibles’ racking up a second undefeated campaign.”

“I reckon Celtic will lose at some point this season,” added Brazil. “They won’t lose many – and they won’t lose badly. But this incredible run will definitely come to an end. The only question is when.”

Meanwhile, Olivier Ntcham has admitted that when he initially joined Celtic, he was not fully fit.

The 21-year-old midfielder moved to Celtic from Manchester City last month for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £4.5 million.

“When I came here for the first three, four or five games I was a little bit tired but I am getting better and better game after game,” Ntcham told The Glasgow Evening Times.
