Celtic lost 1-0 to Anderlecht in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Brendan Rodgers’s side lost 1-0 to Anderlecht at Parkhead as the Scottish giants failed to conclude their Champions League group-stage campaign with a victory.
They did, however, avoid the three-goal defeat that would have seen the Belgians pip them to third spot in Group B and deny Celtic a place in the Europa League.

Jozo Simunovic’s own goal in the second half was the difference on a night where the Hoops looked jaded and uninspired.
Celtic had beaten Anderlecht 3-0 in Brussels earlier in the campaign, and Brazil has questioned how they managed to get beaten by a team they hammered previously.

He said on the Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT: “I listened to Celtic and they were useless last night. They were, they were absolutely useless. How do you beat somebody 3-0 away from home and then lose 1-0 at home?”
The context probably did Celtic no favours at all. Rodgers’s side knew well in advance that anything less than a three-goal defeat would see them qualify for the Europa League which, after being paired with Bayern and PSG, would’ve been the primary goal, and the same motivation can be tough when losing doesn’t really matter.
