Tottenham Hotspur will take on Premier League rivals Manchester United at the Wembley Stadium in London in the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday evening.

The FA Cup is the only chance for Tottenham to win a major trophy this season, but it is not going to be easy.

Spurs fans must be excited at the prospect of the team going on to win the FA Cup at Wembley, but manager Mauricio Pochettino does not seem to consider the competition too highly.

Ahead of the tie, Pochettino told The Guardian: “It would be fantastic to win the FA Cup. But is it going to change our life? I don’t believe so.

“Every one of the semi‑finalists will fight to win but it’s not about who needs the trophy more.”

“If we are capable to win the Premier League and the Champions League, it is a moment you say the team has improved and reached the next level,” added Pochettino.

“To win the FA Cup or the League Cup – it will be fantastic for the fans but it is not going to move the club to a different level.”

Former Tottenham forward Alan Brazil does not seem to have been impressed with Pochettino’s attitude towards the FA Cup.

Brazil said on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (07:37am, April 20, 2018): “Pochettino, he is having a laugh here, is he not? This is a massive game, and Tottenham must go into this game as favourites.”

Important match

While it is true that winning the FA Cup is not going to change an awful lot for Tottenham in terms of their future as a club, it is something that the fans would love.

Having reached so far in the prestigious cup competition, Spurs have to take it seriously and must do whatever they can to win it.

Winning against Jose Mourinho’s United will not be easy, but Tottenham must use their ‘home’ advantage.
