The Tottenham Hotspur man only returned from a six-week absence recently.

Alan Brazil has told talkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to see Harry Kane rested for England’s clash with Scotland this week.

The Three Lions welcome their British rivals to Wembley on Friday in a World Cup qualifier.

Much has been made over whether England coach Gareth Southgate will play Kane, who returned from a six-week absence in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Arsenal.

The 23-year-old Tottenham star did show some signs of rust at the Emirates, and Pochettino withdrew him on 73 minutes – after his second-half penalty led to Spurs winning a point against their North London rivals.

The Lilywhites have only netted four times in their last six games in a stat which suggests that Pochettino’s side are beginning to miss Kane, who netted over 60 times for Spurs over the past two seasons.

And Brazil has said on his own talkSPORT program that the Argentine boss will want to see him wrapped in cotton wool this Friday.

He said: “Harry’s a big one this weekend, Harry Kane. I’m sure Pochettino will be thinking, ‘Please don’t start Harry’, but if you ask the player if he wants to start for his country then he is bound to say yes.”

With Son Heung-min going off the boil, and £18.5 million signing Vincent Janssen still struggling to find form, another injury to Kane could be detrimental for Tottenham.
