Will Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic be able to get the better of Bayern Munich both home and away in the Champions League this season?
Celtic are third in Champions League Group B at the moment with three points from two matches.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are level on points with Bayern, who are currently second in the standings, and three points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG and Bayern are two of the strongest teams in Europe, and the French and the German giants are the favourites to progress to the last-16 stage from Group B.
However, former Tottenham and United forward Brazil has suggested that Celtic can shock Bayern and book their place in the last-16 stage.
The 58-year-old former Scotland international, who now works as a presenter on talkSPORT and admitted in The Sunday Post in July that he is red-hot Celtic fan, has pointed out Bayern’s current problems.
The Bundesliga side recently sacked Carlo Ancelotti as their manager following a disappointing start to the season.
Bayern’s performances and results, both in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League, have not been great.
“This time last week, I didn’t think Celtic had any hope whatsoever of securing Champions League progression,” Brazil wrote in The Sunday Post (October 1, 2017). “Now I reckon they are well in the hunt.
“But it isn’t the way they played against Anderlecht that has got me believing. It’s the blow-up at Bayern Munich.”
“A weakened proposition or not, Bayern could still take six points off Celtic,” added Brazil. “Yet something about the Bhoys’ performance against Anderlecht gives me hope.
“They were so full of confidence, so willing to take the ball, and so ruthless going forward. They looked like the top team Brendan Rodgers has been striving to turn them into since he arrived.
“They could be peaking just at the right time. Or, as far as Bayern Munich are concerned, just at the wrong time.”
