Alan Brazil has told the Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 20th October, that he does not believe Celtic can get third spot in their Champions League group any more.

Celtic had made an impressive start to their European campaign, when they picked up a draw against Manchester City.

However, Celtic’s 2-0 defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach sent Brendan Rodgers’ side crashing back down to earth.

The Bhoys are now sat at the bottom of their Champions League group, and Brazil cannot see them climbing back into third spot – which would see them qualify for the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

“No, not now. I don’t think so,” Brazil said, when asked whether Celtic could still get to third in their Champions League group. “Mathematically they can, but I don’t see it. Last night exposed the difference between the Bundesliga and the top of the SPFL.”

Celtic were outclassed by Monchengladbach in front of their own fans last night, but Rodgers’ side look likely to have to beat the Bundesliga outfit away to have any chance of moving ahead of them in the group standings.

Celtic and Monchengladbach both are unlikely to get anything against Barcelona and Manchester City, meaning the winners of the match in Germany will be in a commanding position to qualify for the Europa League.
