Kenny Miller returned to the Rangers side last time out after the sacking of Pedro Caixinha.
Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald told the Scottish Herald of his surprise at Kenny Miller’s quality as he prepares his side to face Rangers on Saturday.
Miller, who turns 38 in December, returned to the Rangers side under interim boss Graeme Murty to score a brace against Hearts last time out during the Gers’ 3-1 win at Tynecastle, after being ostracised by Pedro Caixinha.
Now, he is expected to lead Rangers into battle against Partick as Graeme Murty takes charge of his second Rangers match as interim manager of the Ibrox club.
Glasgow-born Archibald, 39, is aware of how difficult going to Ibrox will be for his players before highlighting former Scotland international Miller as a threat ahead of Saturday’s showdown.
“They will be buoyant,” Archibald said. “You see the atmosphere at the end of the game last week against Hearts, and the crowd really backed them.
“They brought Kenny back and I think that gave them a lift. Kenny is still a quality player and he brings, surprisingly, loads of energy for somebody so old, and he brings that dynamism to the team and great runs.”
Miller has been in excellent form for the Gers this season, either side of being frozen out by Caixinha. Making 11 appearances in all competitions, the veteran striker has scored four goals and added another four strikes in assists.
The former Celtic striker is in the final year of his contract at Ibrox and as well as helping Rangers earn three points, he could be playing to earn another extension with the Scottish giants.
Three points for Rangers could see them leapfrog Neil Lennon’s Hibernian into third place and to within just one point of second-placed Aberdeen, if Hibs slip up against Dundee and Aberdeen lose to Hamilton.
