Al-Nassr have received a ban from registering new players due to their failure to pay fees owed to Leicester City.
Saudi Pro League Al-Nassr had been gearing up to challenge Al-Ittihad for the crown of league champions. They had been hoping to add to their singular summer signing of Marcelo Brozovic, however this now seems unlikely.
Brozovic joined Cristiano Ronaldo in an effort to bridge the gap Al-Ittihad had created last season. However as the rivals have signed Karim Benzema and N’golo Kante, it appears they have improved further.
Al-Nassr missed out on the signing of Hakim Ziyech this summer already after he failed a medical which would have completed his move from Chelsea.
Now the latest blow, sees Al-Nassr unable to register new players…
Al-Nassr hit with FIFA ban
Al-Nassr have received a ban by FIFA from registering new players after they failed to pay cash due to Leicester for the Ahmed Musa deal in 2018.
According to the Daily Record, the club who are believed to be extremely rich, will now be sanctioned by FIFA after failing to pay performance related add-ons between 2018 and 2020.
CAS have found in Leicester’s favour with the Saudi side said to owe almost £400,000 for the Musa move, which isn’t paid even after the sanctions.
This will be hugely impactful on Al-Nassr’s future, as they had huge plans for the remainder of this window.
Names like David de Gea had been mentioned as targets for the Saudi side, deals which now appear very unlikely as they wouldn’t be able to register him.
This will also be gutting for Ronaldo who signed in January likely on the promise of a squad overhaul this summer.
