Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Alan Shearer posted a very cryptic tweet amid talk that Eddie Howe will replace Steve Bruce.
What’s the story?
Well, The Athletic revealed yesterday that Howe would sign a two-and-a-half year contract with the Magpies today.
At the time of writing, his appointment is yet to officially be announced, but Shearer has now got supporters talking after a very interesting post.
The 51-year-old wrote ‘Howe A The Lads’ in response to The Athletic’s Newcastle correspondent George Caulkin’s tweet.
You can see Shearer’s post in full below.
Well then, why would the BBC pundit write such a thing?
As one fan below wrote, Shearer ‘knows something’ that we don’t perhaps.
What’s the latest with Newcastle and Eddie Howe?

Another supporter below expressed shock, as they ‘thought it was all off’ in regards to Howe replacing Bruce.
That was down to the Mirror, who revealed earlier today that talks with Howe are hanging by a thread over issues with his backroom staff.
Newcastle are standing firm in negotiations and will not buckle to demands, so we are at an impasse until something gives way.
If it doesn’t, and things break down for good, it will be back to the drawing board for the Magpies, who have already failed to lure Unai Emery.

So far, it has been a shambolic search for Bruce’s replacement.
The Mirror even state that Newcastle scrapped their remaining interviews as they were so confident of hiring Emery.
For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about Shearer’s tweet…
