Liverpool have their fair share of big bruisers in the team.
Jurgen Klopp has a number of strong, physically-imposing powerhouses in his squad, including Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez to name a few.
But Adebayo Akinfenwa claims there’s another Liverpool player who could potentially beat him in an arm wrestle.
The 38-year-old is one of the biggest and strongest players in the English football pyramid and is noted for his biceps.
But Akinfenwa reckons that Xherdan Shaqiri would represent a surprisingly tough test for him when it comes to a battle of sheer strength.
Shaqiri, who stands at 5’7, is one of the smallest players at Liverpool in terms of height but the big forward reckons he is deceptively strong.
He told Anfield Watch: “I’d also say Shaqiri. He has that low sense of gravity, he’s got them calves that would hold him in place and he has a stocky top half. So maybe he would give man a go as well. I’m gonna go with either van Dijk or Shaq!”
The Switzerland international certainly is stronger than he looks.
As mentioned, he’s by no means the biggest in Klopp’s squad, but the ridiculousness of his leg muscles indicate that he’s quite fond of the gym.
