Jordan Rhodes is yet to get onto the pitch so far this season – what do the Boro fans make of it?
Middlesbrough’s Jordan Rhodes in action with Brighton’s Connor Goldson
Middlesbrough crashed out of the EFL Cup in last night’s match with Fulham, losing 2-1 away at Craven Cottage.
Fans were left frustrated by the teams’ performance, but also puzzled by the fact that striker Jordan Rhodes did not feature, despite having not played in Boro’s first two competitive matches, and with speculation linking the Scot with a move away from the club rife at the moment.
Fans have taken to Twitter to voice their desire to see the £9 million signing last January in action, as Boro get their return to the top-flight underway. The game ended with a whimper for the Teesside club, who conceded in the 113th minute of extra time to miss out on the opportunity of a match against Bristol City in round 3 of the cup.
Before then Rhodes’ fellow striking team-mate David Nugent had put Boro 1-0 ahead inside ten minutes, only for a Julien de Sart own goal to equalise in the second half.

But just as troubling as the result in the match is the fact that for the third match in succession Jordan Rhodes did not make an appearance – something he had been tipped to do by boss Aitor Karanka before the start of the game.
Here’s how Boro fans have reacted on Twitter.
